All EL students receive at least 30 consecutive minutes of Designated ELD instruction per day and Integrated ELD in all content area instruction.

Mission

The mission statement of E. R. Taylor is to promote intellectual development, physical and mental health, self discipline and cultural sensitivity so that each student can achieve to his/ her fullest potential and be on the road to being "COLLEGE BOUND". E.R. Taylor is a unique school located in a quiet neighborhood in the southeast section of S. F. with a variety of programs to support student achievement.

The school consists of Pre-K - 5th grade classes with ELD, Spanish Bilingual, and Chinese Bilingual classrooms available. The motto of our school is that our students are 'College Bound' and there are many activities to support this vision.

In addition we have a Family Liaison, a Community Relations Specialist, 1.5 School Social Workers, a School Nurse and partnerships with Edgewood and the Excel After School Program to provide family support services to help our parents/guardians support their children to reach their potential.

Taylor is a National Blue Ribbon School for 2009 and we have received the Title One Academic Achievement Award from the State of California. In addition, Taylor is a State Shining Star School for our Comprehensive Student Support Services and has been named a California Distinguished School.

A successful graduate of E.R. Taylor will:

•Have critical thinking skills

•Be nice and work well with others

• Be able to speak another language (Spanish, Chinese, sign language, coding)

•Be a lifelong learner

•Have had a well-rounded education

As a school, we are moving in the direction of a Comprehensive Approach to Literacy, the implementation of the SFUSD Math Standards, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Students participate in a variety of programs, including Art, Music, Gardening, Computer Lab, Physical Education, and Library. We encourage student leadership through our Junior Coach program and our Student Safety Guard program.
